1. Who is responsible for your information?
ZypherLock LLC owns and operates this website and is the data controller for information submitted through it. Its ICO registration reference is ZB973673.
The books and characters are created by John-Paul Rye and are presented with publishing support from AuthorCentral.uk.
For privacy questions or requests, select “Privacy or data request” on our contact form.
2. What information do we collect?
Information you choose to send
The contact form asks for your name, email address, enquiry category and message. It also records that you confirmed you are an adult and read this notice.
Please do not send personal information about a child. The form does not accept photographs, documents or other uploads.
Technical and security information
Our hosting service may receive standard request information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page and time of access. The contact form converts the connection address into a one-way identifier to prevent repeated automated submissions; the form does not place the raw address in the enquiry email.
Browser storage
The main site does not use analytics or advertising cookies. It stores your privacy-panel choice locally in your browser. The Find-the-Objects game also keeps found-object progress, personal-best scores, bonus-round results, awards, the last scene, the control-panel side and the sound choice in local browser storage. The Parent Print Shop keeps its grown-up check only for the current browser tab. This game data stays on the device and is not sent to us. The contact page uses a short-lived security session cookie for CSRF protection and form integrity.
3. How and why do we use information?
| Purpose | Information | UK GDPR lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to an enquiry or request | Contact details and message | Legitimate interests in answering correspondence and providing support |
| Discuss a requested service, event, licence or book-related arrangement | Contact details and relevant correspondence | Steps requested before entering a contract, or performance of a contract |
| Protect the website and form | Limited technical and rate-limit information | Legitimate interests in security, abuse prevention and service availability |
| Meet legal duties and handle rights requests | Information relevant to the request | Legal obligation |
We do not use contact-form details for newsletters, behavioural advertising, profiling or automated decisions.
5. How long do we keep information?
- Contact enquiries and replies are normally kept for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact.
- Records needed for a contract, dispute or legal obligation may be kept longer for the relevant limitation or statutory period.
- Application rate-limit records contain a one-way connection identifier and expire from the active limit after one hour.
- The contact security cookie expires when the browser session ends. Your saved privacy-panel choice and game progress stay in that browser until you clear the relevant site data; individual scenes can also be reset inside the game.
6. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or to object to processing. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful use.
We may need to confirm your identity before fulfilling a request. You will not normally have to pay a fee.
Send a request by selecting “Privacy or data request” on the contact form.
7. Children’s privacy
The stories and Find-the-Objects game are made for children, but this website’s contact service is for adults. The game does not ask for a name or contact details and keeps progress only on the device. We do not offer child accounts, direct messaging, personalised advertising or profiling. A child should ask a parent or guardian to contact us and should never send private details through the form.
If you believe a child has sent personal information, tell us through the contact form so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
8. Security
We use data minimisation, restricted form fields, encrypted HTTPS in production, security headers, CSRF protection, origin checks, automated-abuse traps, rate limits and server-side validation. No internet service can promise absolute security, so please send only what is needed for the enquiry.
